So...what’s actually open in L.A. right now?
Bars are closed—except for bars that are restaurants. But restaurants have to close indoor dining rooms—but not outdoor patios. Between that and new regulations about gyms and museums, keeping up with the latest guidelines can be a nightmare. So we’ve taken a fresh look at what is and isn’t open in L.A. right now.
What to do this week
Fri at 6pm Summer Nights at Home
Bring a bit of the Natural History Museum’s garden into your home with the kickoff of this free streaming series, which features botanical cocktail recipes, musical performances and talks about plants and home gardening.
The best of the rest:
Fri at 7pm Brush up on your Bollywood moves as Dance Downtown moves its free summertime dance lessons from Grand Park to a weekly stream.

Sat at 8pm Andrew McMahon is playing a real, in-person concert—in drive-in format—in Anaheim. If you can’t grab a ticket, you can scope out a livestream on Saturday night.

Sun Have some spare citrus in your backyard? Swap fresh, homegrown fruits with other Angelenos during the digitally-organized L.A. Fruit-Share.
Hungry?
Here’s where you can still dine out in L.A. (outside, of course)
Indoor dining rooms in L.A. have been ordered shut for the next few weeks, at least. But plenty of restaurants have been able to pivot to patios (like E.P./L.P., pictured above), parking lot pop-ups and alleyway extensions. We know plenty of Angelenos will feel more comfortable cooking at home or getting takeout for a bit, and that’s totally understandable. But if you feel like dining outdoors, here’s where you can still dine out safely—and deliciously
Bar Amá
Josef Centeno’s Downtown Tex-Mex spot has spilled out into its adjacent alleyway so you can still feast on puffy tacos and a molten bowl of queso (including a vegan variant).
Alta
You can still find chef Keith Corbin’s bright and creative California soul food for brunch on the verdant back patio of the West Adams restaurant and coffee shop.

Playa Provisions
The beachy, seafood-filled country mart returns with Plexiglas barriers between booths and an all-new patio in their parking lot for outdoor dining right by the ocean.
Tallula’s
The family-friendly Mexican cantina has flipped its Santa Monica parking lot into an alfresco dining space where you can enjoy tacos, nachos and plenty of margaritas.
Six ways to get your groceries delivered
Not comfortable dining out at all? We hear you. You can still take advantage of these services that’ll drop groceries off right at your door—and, thankfully, nabbing a delivery window has gotten a little bit easier lately.

We don’t know who needs to hear this but...
Yes, those are still fireworks you’re hearing. Yes, the Fourth of July is over. And yep, you’ll probably keep hearing those for the rest of the summer.
