Here’s how restaurants are getting creative with dining right now
You’re not allowed to dine indoors at a restaurant and not every spot has a picture-perfect patio. So what are L.A.’s eateries to do? Here’s how restaurants and entire cities are getting creative with their outdoor dining, takeout and delivery options right now.
Dining on the street
A few cities around the county offer programs that place diners on the sidewalks and in parking spaces; Pasadena, Long Beach, Burbank and a couple of others have gone all out to shut down entire streets or multiple lanes.
A virtual beer school
Class is in session: LA Beer Hop has pivoted from its hop-on, hop-off bus tours of local breweries to an eight-week virtual class complete with beer tastings, history lessons, food pairings and a flexible schedule.
A digital omakase experience
Phillip Frankland Lee is recreating the hospitality of a chef’s table at home with a series of beautifully shot preparation videos that guide you through Sushi Bar’s 16-course to-go menu.
Boozy parties delivered
Want to throw a garden gnome party with mead and pretzels? Or a ’90s-themed slumber party with pizza and bath bombs? Disco Dining Club has you covered with these madcap packages.
Want to avoid other people? Try these secluded getaways.
Tired of trying to keep your distance at Runyon? Don’t feel like competing for a spot at the beach? Head out to these forests and mountain lakes within a short drive of L.A. to find plenty of elbow room and beautiful expanses of open space.
