Time In No. #11 | Tue 25 August, 2020
Looking to see some fireworks this weekend?
Considering how the Fourth of July seems to have snuck up without much fanfare, you probably won’t be surprised to hear that every major fireworks show in L.A. has been canceled (a few are holding virtual celebrations or hosting flyovers instead). But there are just a couple of shows on the outskirts of the city that are still planned—and, of course, we’re sure your neighborhood will be bursting with not-so-legal pyro.
What to do this week
Thu–Sun Tribeca Drive-In
The Rose Bowl parking lot flips into an outdoor theater for the debut of Tribeca Drive-In, with opening weekend screenings of Jaws, E.T., The Neverending Story, Space Jam and more.
The best of the rest:
Through Tue Pick up limited-edition silkscreens from Chicano and Latino artists during the final days of the inaugural online edition of the Self Help Graphics & Art Annual Print Fair.

Thu at 12:30pm Find a bit of stability with the Hammer Museum’s free Mindful Awareness Meditation class.

Thu–Sat Catch screenings of Black Panther, Moana and The Sandlot as Street Food Cinema continues its drive-in pop-up in Simi Valley.
These are the national parks near L.A. that are open (and closed)
Almost every national park within driving distance of L.A. has at least partially reopened. But there’s a lot you need to know before hitting the road, including which spots require reservations, where camping is and isn’t allowed, and how far you should really be traveling right now.
Last chance: Vote now in the Time In Awards
We’re looking back and recognizing the Angelenos who’ve made our homebound lives feel more comfortable—the people and places who’ve provided us with bits of joy and brought the things we love to eat, drink and watch directly to our couch. Our editors have compiled a list of worthy nominees, but now we’re leaving it up to you to determine the winners.
