This fridge is full of free food |

A lime green fridge full of free food has popped up outside Greenpoint’s The Lot Radio. The fridge is part of an initiative by North Brooklyn Mutual Aid which is hoping to bring greater solidarity to communities through food and to empower individuals through easier access to nourishment. “We don’t have things set...we simply trust that the community is going to step up to take care of their neighbors and it has,” says Kevin LaCherra, a coordinator for North Brooklyn Mutual Aid and fourth generation Greenpoint resident.

In a summer where the unexpected has become the norm, this still had us doing a double take. The Baylander Steel Beach is a new Harlem venue with a very unique location: It’s located on a tiny aircraft carrier in Upper Manhattan off 125th Street. The Navy ship was used during the Vietnam War and was moored in various locations around the metropolitan area before finding its current home uptown. Now, you can enjoy lobster rolls, burgers and drinks on its spacious outdoor deck. |
